Part of this area is the original town of Sugar Land, a company town. The old company headquarters and what is left of the sugar processing and storage facilities are on US 90A. Commercial and residential development of the area which extends to Constellation Field, home of the Sugar Land Skeeters, a minor league baseball park to the old char house with Imperial Pure Cane Sugar in neon at the top. This area is being developed under the name Imperial. A new addition is the Fort Bend Children's Discovery Center which features "Kidropolis". Many homes were built in 1970's and 80's..
The estimated population of Sugar Land in 2011 was 84,511 within the city limits with 28,371 dwellings with a diversity of races including a large Asian population with a mean household income of $130,505 in 2010. First Colony Mall, the AMC theater and the "new downtown" area of Sugar Land are located in First Colony with many restaurants and shops. Restaurants, shops and an HEB supermarket are along State Highway 6 nearby. Located only 20 miles from downtown Houston, Sugar Land is one of America's most live able cities.
Originally this area grew sugar cane and the sugar company bought and processed it into sugar. As time went on sugar cane ceased to be grown here but the family owned Imperial Sugar thrived. A town grew up with company employees living close by.

Woodbridge Estates (Map) Home values range from 326,000 to $450,000 with an average of $378,000. Homes were built from 2001 to 2004 having 3200 to 5200 sq.ft. FBISD schools are zoned to Drabek, Garcia, Austin.

Schools and Colleges
Public schools are in Fort Bend Ind.School Dist. Most of the high school students are zoned to Kempner High School, 14777 Voss Road, Sugar Land 77498 in north Sugar Land or Austin High School. Many of the Junior High school students attend Sugar Land Middle School, 321 Seventh Street, Sugar Land 77498 in old Sugar Land and Garcia Middle School. Elementary schools include: Sugar Mill Elementary School, 13707 Jess Pirtle, Sugar Land 77498. If schools are important check FBISD attendance zones by address before buying. Also confirm with the school district to see if zoning is changing in the near future.
Houston Community College has a 70 acre campus which opened in 2009 and serves over 10,000 students in Stafford. WCJC and the University of Houston have a joint campus closeby on west side of Sugar Land in Telfair. A Wharton County Junior College trade school is located in Richmond.
Private schools are available. St. Laurance Catholic School on Sweetwater in Sugar Land has pre-K through 8th grade. Fort Bend Christian (Baptist) Academy is located on 7th Street in Sugar Land with pre-K through High School. Calvary Episcopal School on FM 762 in Richmond has pre-K through High School. Faith Lutheran School and Preschool (No Public website), Brooks Street, pre-K through 5 th. Honor Roll School, Sweetwater Blvd, Sugar Land 2 year old through 8th grade. A number of other private schools are available for younger children.
